Newark and Sherwood District Council are currently amending their housing development documents and one of these documents – the Preferred Approach Strategy – is out for consultation. This means that anyone who lives in the Newark and Sherwood area (which includes Oxton) can read the documents and make comments. This document sets out future development targets based on the latest evidence, sets out where new development should be and includes some new affordable housing policies. In the case of communities such as Oxton the issues of the Green Belt is clearly significant and in the document, the District Council has sought to clarify the current circumstances relating to Green Belt policy by suggesting amendments and allowing for rural affordable exceptions sites.
The District Council welcomes the views of residents on all these matters.
The consultation runs to the 23rd September 2016. All the documentation is available on the Newark and Sherwood District Council website http://www.newark-sherwooddc.gov.uk/planreview and will be placed on deposit in the Libraries in the District so please take a look if you are interested.
