Volunteers required to help Oxton look its best!

The Parish Council has made the decision to enter the Best Kept Village competition for 2014 following on from last year’s success when Oxton was voted runner up in its category.

Perhaps this year is the year we will go one better and win the category which then gives the opportunity to compete against the winners of the other three categories to try and become the best kept village in Nottinghamshire.  We are therefore looking for a small group of volunteers who are willing to give some time to ensure everything in the village looks its best ready for the first round of judging in June.

To come out on top of this competition the village needs a group of people to look out for the issues which the judges will look unfavourably upon – the Parish Council already deals with the larger jobs such as grass cutting, hedge cutting and road sweeping but this competition is won or lost on the small but important details. Oxton already has an enthusiastic small team of villagers who look after the planters (which are a key vote winner in the competition) so the new group would work alongside them to supplement their efforts.

If you have an interest in getting involved to try and make Oxton a winning village this year please get in touch with me or Jill Jones, the Parish Council chairman.
