On Saturday 28th September 2013 the Oxton Film Club, The Projection House, will be inaugurating the new sound system in Oxton village hall which will allow films to be shown both in HD and with cinema quality surround sound as well. Thanks to the village hall committee for installing this fantastic equipment, which will of course be of use for other events including the annual village pantomime.
The day will start with the film HUGO (U) at 4.30 pm. A family film directed by Martin Scorsese and starring Ben Kingsley, Christopher Lee, Jude Law and Sacha Baron Cohen, HUGO is the astonishing adventure of a wily and resourceful orphan boy whose quest to unlock a secret left to him by his father will transform both himself and all those around him.
The later film, starting at 8.00 pm, will be QUARTET (12A), directed by Dustin Hoffman and starring amongst others Billy Connolly, Maggie Smith and Tom Courtenay. Based on Ronald Harwood’s stage play, QUARTET is a wickedly funny comic film about redefining old age and growing old with hope; demonstrating how art illuminates life and the human spirit remains undimmed even as the brightest stars start to fade.
If you liked the Projection House’s screening of Best Exotic Marigold Hotel then you will love this film!
As usual drinks and snacks will be available. There will canapés and martinis to go with the evening film.
