Chairman’s Blog – December ‘12/January ‘13

xmas Here we are again just a few weeks away from Christmas and 2013 – I’m sure the years are getting shorter as I’m getting older! Not much to report this month.

Minutes of Meetings:- Full minutes of meetings can be found at www.oxtonpc.org.uk and will be posted on the “old” notice board.

Village Website:- readthe latest village news at www.myoxton.org

Dover Beck Contribution:- County Councillor Andy Stewart offered £400 towards the ongoing costs of the Dover Beck on behalf of Oxton, Epperstone and Gonalston. Many thanks to Andy for this generous gesture.

Highways:- The PC has been advised that work is due to commence on  the addition of new cameras on the A6097. The section of road from Lowdham roundabout to Gunthorpe bridge is scheduled to be designated a 40mph zone because of an increased number of accidents.

Dangerous Driving Incidents:- Inspector Gan of Notts Police has responded to the Parish Councils’ letter regarding dangerous driving and anti-social behaviour which has been occurring, on occasion, on Oxton bypass and roundabout. He confirmed that the local beat team has been asked to pay attention to this area and added that the issue has also been included in Operation Animism which consists of increased police patrols in hot spot areas.

Cold Weather Conditions:- Remember to keep an eye on your neighbours throughout the coming winter months. Some people find it difficult to get out and about in poor weather conditions so I’m sure the odd phone call or visit would be a welcome distraction.

Finally………..My best wishes to you for a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Healthy 2013!

Kind regards..…….Jill Jones                              jill@myetype.co.uk        0115 965 5984
