Like everywhere else this year, the garden has been hit by the snow, the hard frosts and lengthy cold spells so there have been some fatalities and some injured plants that are taking a while to recuperate. There will be gaps, however, some of the old favourites are beginning to make an appearance; the clematis are sprouting vigorously, the tulips promise well and even some late summer herbaceous plants are optimistically showing their first shoots. Maybe the bluebells will be showing and the ponds and streams should be full of life – we already have some frog spawn – and there will be some new and unusual planting for you to come and see.
