PC Chairman’s Blog: March 2012

Minutes of Meetings:- Full minutes of meetings can be found at www.oxtonpc.org.uk

Village Website:- read the latest village news at www.myoxton.org

Road Traffic Order on New Rd, Sandy Lane & Water Lane:- Notts County Council have considered the corporate complaint regarding their handling of the process to put in place a traffic order to restrict access on New Road/Sandy Lane/Water Lane. The ‘missing’ petition has been reported to the County Council Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport and he agreed to proceed with the scheme as advertised. The scheme will therefore be implemented as soon as possible. The new gateways onSandy Lane have already been erected and very nice they look too!

Snow Helpers: My thanks go to Pete Strutt and Dave Mellors for their assistance in clearing and gritting areas of snow throughout the village in February. Nice one chaps………

Flood Alleviation Plan:- In last month’s Blog I reported that Oxton Estate have, in principal, no objections to the land north east of Blind Lane being used as a catchment area for flood waters. The terrain provides enough natural gullies in which to hold the water. The flow of water would be controlled by an automatic control structure. The latest news is that  Newark & Sherwood District Council have come to an agreement with Notts County Council regarding payment for the additional survey which will assess the new option of using this land and JBA Consulting have been asked to produce a detailed proposal with associated costs by the end of March.

Contribution to Oxton Flyer & Chiropody Clinic: Here’s a photo of Parish Councillor Lin Jacobs receiving a cheque for £500.00 from our County Councillor Andy Stewart
